Flooding

I’m not posting any pics with this post.  There are many pics online. You can google Nashville Flood pictures. It is amazing!  There are many homes that are flooded, there are business owners whose houses are not flooded but their businesses are.   There just seems to be so much devastation.  Everyone I know here is affected by the flood in some way.  We have churches that are flooded. Churches that would normally be helping others and yet they are having to clean up their buildings themselves.   Of course there are also plenty of churches that are not flooded and they are doing everything they can.

Those of you who know me, know that I am not usually at a loss for words.  :-)   However, several times since the flood I have found myself completely void of words to encourage someone.  There are no majic words to make things better and yet when we turn to God’s Word, He always has the words.  The words for comfort, peace, encouragement, or what to say to a friend – they are all there.

A sweet friend from Alabama sent me a verse today that is exactly the words that I needed to encourage some friends.  It is found in Isaiah 43:2  “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you… For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel’ and your Savior.  Because you are precious in My sight and honored, and I love you….do not fear for I am with you.”

I would ask that all of you pray for the folks all throughout middle Tennessee, specifically that they will know that God is with them.  And for those of us who were not flooded to know where to help and how to help them know of God’s love for them.
